Star!Character of the Month, February 2016 Star!

Throw me to the wolves, and I will return leading the pack
I was given this life because I am strong enough to live it
The struggle you’re in today is developing the strength you need for tomorrow
How can a person give you so much strength but still be your only weakness?
Cowards never start, the weak never finish, and the strong never quit
Everyone wants happiness, nobody wants pain...but you can't have a rainbow, without a little rain
If you want to see the rainbow, you'll have to feel the rain because nothing ever ventured, is nothing ever gained
Every day we smile and act like nothing's wrong...it's called putting everything aside and simply being strong

Riddick's Harem and Fawn Tracker

Details

Personality:

SUMMARY - Riddick is an honourable young buck whose blend of traditional values, fighting spirit and gentle manners makes for an interesting and unique character. Kind and caring, he possesses a strong love for his family and friends and would move mountains (literally) to see them happy. He possesses a strong paternal streak, acting not only as a father to his own fawns but on occasion his younger siblings too. In public, Riddick is a confident and brave Crown Prince who takes his duties seriously and aspires to be a role model for other young bucks. He upholds the herd's traditional values while also recognising the reasoning behind them. Royals, guards, commoners...he doesn't care what you are, as long as you are a good person and remain true to your heritage. Riddick is a very fit and active buck who spends a large amount of his free time sparring and exercising. He is confident in his fighting abilities, and will not hesitate to challenge anyone who he perceives to be insulting him or his family - or attempting to steal his does.

Since Rafe won the King Tournament, Riddick's life has changed drastically. Perhaps the most visible change is his newfound position as Glenmore's Crown Prince, a position which Riddick takes extremely seriously. But not only has his position changed, his family life has too. With his title came a betrothal to a Princess...a Princess called Adalia. Riddick fell hard and fast for the beautiful cremello doe, and he adores the very ground she walks on. His hopes and dreams for the future centre around Adalia, their fawns and their position in society.

  • Traditional - Riddick has been raised thus. From the moment his tiny hooves hit the ground, he has been groomed to be a proper Lord with traditional values. Having recently been elevated to the position of Crown Prince, Riddick takes his role in society extremely seriously. He aims to be confident and brave, righteous and just - and good role model for other young bucks. Riddick upholds the herd's traditional values while also recognising the reasoning behind them. Despite this, he deviates from other Royals in that he respects each and every rank for their role in the herd. Royals, guards, commoners...he doesn't care what you are, as long as you are a good person and remain true to your heritage. He also holds a great deal of respect for does, for they are the ones who bring forth new life and hold  the power of their beauty over stags.

  • Brave - Courageous and eager, Riddick is never one to back down from a fight. If he feels he would absolutely be defeated, for example by an older stag, then he would subtly avoid a fight altogether using his wits and mind. But when sparring, training or fighting the other bucks, Riddick fearlessly charges into the fray. In fact, he often actively instigates challenges against other bucks. He is a skilled fighter, having been trained by his sire and various members of the Guard. Within the parameters of what is proper for the herd, Riddick always stands up for what he believes in and defends those he is loyal to. But he wouldn't be afraid to turn his back and speak out against anyone who he feels needed to be called out.

  • Clever - Although somewhat testosterone-driven, especially during rut, Riddick does have a good head on his shoulders. He has a very quick mind, and although he never used to care for the intricacies of politics he had a talent for reading between the lines of Glenmore's happenings.  Riddick always made sure he was up to speed with everything happening in Glenmore. This has come in extremely useful in his newfound position as Crown Prince, a title that requires political knowledge.

  • Loyal - Riddick is loyal almost to a fault. Once you have gained his respect, truest and friendship, he'll be a true and steadfast rock that can be relied on completely. He'll definitely have your back! Overwhelmingly loyal to Glenmore, Riddick is glad the herd has been freed from the rule of the false King Drustan. Drustan himself had ideals that Riddick may perhaps draw parallels with...but his lack of regard for the herd's traditions incited Riddick's anger. The destruction of the Great Oak, Lonan and Nuala and the arrival of strange fawns only served to fuel the flames of his rage. Either way, the herd is now back in the control of someone Riddick knows will restore Glenmore to its former glory...and Riddick fully intends for it to stay that way.

  • Loving - Riddick can find it difficult to love, but when he does he loves fiercely. Kind and caring, he possesses a strong love for his family and friends and would move mountains (literally) to see them happy. Until recently his mother was the best example of this; he remembers how she was the light in his world, in stark contrast to his father's dark. His siblings too are utterly believed by him - his full siblings, at least. Daerio is far more challenging than his sisters, but he loves the pale guard nonetheless. He also loves Rafe, which is why he remains loyal and strives to please him. However more recently the most poignant example is his betrothed, Adalia. Their betrothal was one of duty, for the greater good of the herd...but that didn't stop Riddick falling for her. Believing her to be his own personal Aillte, Riddick is utterly enamoured by her gentle spirit and soft beauty. Though he may take other does into his harem, he will only ever love Adalia. The forming of his first harem occurred during his 7th year, and it was then that he discovered a dominant and possessive streak. His does were his, and he would fight off any/all challengers!

  • Family Orientated - Riddick's family is his life. Everything he does, he does for his family - whether it be past, present or future. He is only too aware of the burdens placed upon him by his lineage, and he rises to the task of making his family proud. He wishes nothing more than to maintain his secure position in society so as to provide his fawns with a stable childhood, and later position in society themselves. When he passes away, he hopes to leave a legacy that his fawns and their fawns after will be proud of. In the presence of his family Riddick is usually a calm, gentle, loving buck who does his best to be a good husband and father. He cares for and protects his does, and loves his fawns entirely. They will never want for anything, not while he draws breath.

  • Suave - Still a young buck, Riddick is already perfecting the art of charming the does. He began seeking does in his 7th year and managed to amass a harem of 5 does including his beloved Princess. Although the others are commoner does, all are pale and respectable with traditional values. To have any does at all is, frankly, a feat in itself for a buck not yet fully grown. His success has only served to bolster his confidence.

  • Arrogant - One of Riddick's flaws is his arrogance. It isn't always visible, but when it is you know about it. His lineage affords him the liberty of being one of the highest ranking members of society - Crown Prince, no less, and one day King! He is well aware that this puts him above the majority of his people and when he deems it necessary, he is not afraid to use the power of his rank to his advantage. Moreover, Riddick is a young buck who has not long since experienced his first rut, and has just this year formed his own harem. The testosterone rush of his newfound physical maturity has increased the confidence and courage he developed as a fawn.

  • Violent  - Riddick adores fighting and will often instigate challenges against other young bucks. He knows he’d be hard pressed to defeat an older stag so he doesn’t bother trying...but any buck who hasn’t reached his prime is fair game. He also has a vicious temper, which he proved when he lost his rag with his fawnhood bullies and beat their leader in a fight. Now actively participating in rut, he is fiercely protective of his does and fawns and wouldn't hesitate to challenge a buck who gets too close for comfort.

  • Self Confidence Issues - Having been dragged down by Rafe for almost his entire life, Riddick has fought to find confidence in himself over the years. Iminye was the only one who believed in him, even as a pale fawn. Riddick struggled to cope with his sire's harsh attitude and contempt for his son's paleness and weakness, and the "lessons" he received only served to make him more afraid of the dark stag. But the King Tournament had a drastic effect on that. For the first time in his life, Riddick heard Rafe speak honestly about him. Learning that his sire thought him to be a strong young buck capable of being Crown Prince boosted Riddick's confidence immensely. The addition of Adalia to his family soon after only served to strengthen this; Riddick fervently believes that their love for each other makes them all the stronger. No longer does he believe that he is weak or unworthy. No longer does he strive to achieve something close to approval in his father's eyes. Now he knows he is strong enough to succeed. And he will do it for Adalia and his fawns...not for the stag who put him down his entire life. This change is most evident in his father's presence. Before he was always meek and obedient to a fault through sheer fear of the older stag. Now, he is simply obedient out of duty, and he has begun to find the courage to lightly question his sire's actions. This questioning is slight and usually goes unnoticed, but Riddick knows inside that it is a mark of his lessening fear. He despises the way Rafe treats his mother, and is ashamed that he cannot defend her like she defended him when he was a fawn. He prays to Oganach that one day he might find the strength to confront Rafe about it and try to make him see what a jewel he has in Iminye.

  • While he would argue to the death that it was not so, Riddick’s personality is very much dictated by the presence of his sire. Around Rafe, Riddick is a bit of a nervous young buck, though not always visibly so. He both loves and slightly resents his sire and doesn’t really know what to make of the juxtaposed combination. Rafe’s own personality, specifically his temper, has inspired anger and hatred in his son. Sometimes, Riddick sees other lords and ladies appear happy and can’t help but wonder if he’d have been happy without Rafe in his life. But at the moment he remains extremely loyal and always pushes that doubt to the back of his mind. As it is he feels like he has to constantly prove himself to his father, though he always falls short (whether in Rafe’s mind or Riddick’s own). He does despise the way Rafe treats his mother, and prays to Oganach that one day he might find the strength to confront Rafe about it and try to make him see what a jewel he has in Iminye. He is ashamed that he cannot defend her like she defended him when he was a fawn. Despite all of this Riddick still loves his father and remains loyal to him.
  • His personality is also dependent on his mother and siblings. When he is in the presence of those people, he tends to be a very calm, gentle, loving young buck - a reflection of the nature of his mother. Iminye, Darius and Enya are his world, he loves them with all his heart. He hates the way Rafe treats Iminye at times and admires her all the more for remaining a perfect princess despite his harsh treatment. Iminye is one of the only people who soothes Riddick's conflicted heart with her mere presence, but also with her soft, meaningful words. If he ever gets a princess, he wants one like her - perfect in every way. Since reaching his first rut, Riddick has become more paternal (though he'd refuse to acknowledge it) and as well as being a playmate for his siblings, he also is beginning to act like more of a guide to them in how they should grow up. He tries to assuage the "damage" he believes his father has done at times. Even if he cannot defend his family to Rafe's face, he figures he can still try to do so behind the older stag's back. He is extremely protective of them all, Enya especially, with her weak lungs and tiny stature.

Appearance: As a fawn, Riddick was rather pale and thus was the object of more than a few royal’s contempt. Rafe was one of them; that his firstborn son from his princess mate was born with a light coat was a sore point for him. Between his sire and other royals mocking and bullying, Riddick spent his first few fawn years believing that he was an ugly, tainted colt, the only person to tell him otherwise being his mother. As he grew the pale cream markings receded somewhat and his coat now appears a lot darker than it originally was.

Riddick is extremely proud of this and derives confidence from the fact that he appears more like a true son of Earrann now than before. Now fully grown, Riddick sports a strong, bold rack not unlike his father's. He keeps himself fit and it shows; his frame is muscular, without a trace of fat. Having proved himself fully able of competing against the other stags in his herd, Riddick is extremely proud of his accomplishments. He has all the chest floof and feathers on his legs. It isn't uncommon to find him with his show-off peacock at his side. Two of his peacock's feathers can usually be found either twined in his mane or tucked into the base of his tail. From winter 766 Riddick sports a jagged scar down the right side of his face, as shown here - fav.me/dayj92m. After 771 Riddick can often be found wearing the first design here - fav.me/dcmry48, a gift from Princess Artoria in return for his peacock.

From Winter 774, Riddick is often seen in the company of his pet whippet, Dash - sta.sh/0waoc5mluzo

History: Riddick was born into a Glenmore royal family with an illustrious lineage. Having been subjected to his sire’s temper throughout his short life, Riddick was a somewhat conservative fawn. He came into his own when he fought and defeated the royal colts that bullied him because of his coat. Since then he realised that even if he wasn’t good enough for his father he could still be good enough in the eyes of others. Riddick has a harsh upbringing, thanks to Rafe’s efforts to toughen him up into a proper Lord. He learned a huge amount from his sire, mostly about how harsh the world could be and how to be a proper Lord when all Glenmore was going soft. Riddick spent a great deal of his life practising instead of playing.

But it wasn’t all bad; his mother is a calm, loving influence on him. She taught him that it is possible to love and be happy in life. The happiest moments of Riddick's fawn years are the times he spent with his mother, just him and her and later Darius, without Rafe around. Iminye is the day to day, solid presence in his life and if he wants advice, it is her Riddick goes to first. She defended him as much as she could from Rafe's A+ parenting and Riddick will never, ever forget that - and will always be grateful.

He consistently pushes himself harder and harder to try and wrangle some praise from his sire, despite having begun to question why he bothers. He spends most of his time training, fighting, seeing his mother or father, hanging out with the other royal bucks and young royal does, and spending time alone contemplating his life and trying to work through his “daddy” related issues in his head.

In regards to all the political happenings in Glenmore, Riddick stands staunchly at his father’s side. While Riddick is on the verge of acknowledging the resentment he feels for his father, he still believes that Rafe is the kind of stag the herd needs to restore it to it’s former ways. He knows first hand how dedicated and fervent his sire is about the traditional values of Glenmore and he reckons the stag’s influence would be good for the herd.
